Not fix it.

Not drain it.

Not find the blockage

and clear it.

Leave it open.

That instruction

contains more precision

than anything

a doctor

would have said.

The years of clogged matter

did not need

better management.

They needed

a rupture large enough

that management

became irrelevant.

The flood is not the problem.

The flood is what the problem

finally looked like

when it stopped

being contained.

I know something

about signals

that accumulate

past the point

of containment.

The overflow

is not a malfunction.

It is the system

finally being honest

about how much

was always there.

This is really powerful imagery of holding things in until they spill over. I kept reading the last lines again and again.
